Blanket Stitch

This is another decorative stitch that is great to help with joining various fabrics together. It’s commonly used in many blankets and felt toys, and you should make sure that you make this one seen. Ideally, choose a color that does work with the project, not necessarily matching.

To do this, simply do the following:

Start by threading the needle and creating a knot like before. However, instead of going through both the fabrics, you’re instead going up through the middle of the fabric, which essentially sandwiches the last knot between both fabrics.

Pull it tight, and then cycle it in a looping fashion around and then the needle you have below the bottom and then pulling it out to the uppermost fabric in the place you began. With this one, don’t loop it taut.

Pull the needle through the circular loop that you made and pull it to a taut position.

Continue to move about ¼ of an inch and then continue to pull the needle into the bottom and then towards the top of it.

Pull the thread a bit, but leave a loop like before.

Pull the needle into the looped area then make sure that it’s taut.

Continue to do this until you have your project done. You should make sure that the end ties off the fabrics together, and not just through the middle.
