3. Turn your bag right side out through the opening. Use your finger to carefully poke out the corners so they form a nice right angle. (Sometimes I use a straight pin to carefully “pick” the corners out.) Press. fig. E

4. Press the seam allowances at the 4˝ opening to the inside and then edgestitch along that entire side, sewing the opening closed as you stitch. Set the bag aside. fig. F

5. Make a double-fold strap. Measure and mark a removable dot 4˝ from each end.

Put It All Together

1. To finish, position the bag on your work surface with the outside fabric facing down. Fold the bottom edge of the bag up 7¼˝ so it aligns with the marked dots on each side edge.

2. Pin each end of the strap at the matching dots along the left and right sides. Slant the ends of the strap slightly so the flap lays correctly when you are wearing the bag.

3. Use a ¼˝ seam allowance to sew through all of the layers on the left and right sides of the bag. This closes the sides of the bag and creates a neat top-stitch detail along the sides. fig. G
