Decorative flat locking on folds for embellishment

Materials

• 44/45-inch-wide 100-percent cotton fabric:

1½ yards multicolored print fabric

• 1⅛ yards -inch fusible piping

• ⅝ yard fusible tricot interfacing

• 18 x 18-inch pillow form

• Zipper foot for sewing machine

• Press cloth

• Basic sewing supplies and equipment

Threads

• Assorted decorative and serger threads

• All-purpose coordinating sewing thread

Serger Stitches & Settings

Note: These are suggested serger settings. Be sure to test your stitch on a scrap of project or similar fabric to ensure stitch perfection before beginning your project.

3- thread flat lock for decorative stitching

Stitch Length: 3.0

Left Needle Tension: 1

Right Needle: Removed

Upper Looper Tension: 3

Lower Looper Tension: 6

Optional for flat locking on fold: Foot to protect fabric from cutting blade or disengage cutting blade

Tip for Success

The needle thread easily pulls out of flat locking and can unravel your stitches. To avoid this, leave long tails at each end of the stitching.
