THE SLAYING OF ENOCH AND ELIJAH AND THE CONFOUNDING OF THE ANTICHRIST

“After Enoch and Elijah shall have been subjected to mortal death by the Son of Perdition, the followers of the Antichrist will rejoice greatly when they see that they are dead. But then He will resurrect them with the spirit of life and bear them up in the clouds, and their joy will be turned to fear and sadness and great wonder. For by their resuscitation and raising up, I, the All-powerful, shall prove that the resurrection and life of the dead can be contradicted by no refutation of unbelievers. For on that day when the Elements with which mankind sinned will be purged, they will also be revived from death, and restored in greater clarity than when first created, through penance, which is especially pleasing to God.

“So just as a person’s entire frame is moved through repentance, so they also move the heavens with the mournful voice of penance and praise God and His cherubim completely. Then the serpent of old will be moved to greatest rage on account of this and will lead the accursed man to think that he might possess the throne from which he was cast down, inasmuch as by this the resuscitation of the aforementioned men and the memory of the Son of God may be completely expunged in men, and he will say to himself: ‘In this, my son, I shall wage a greater war now than I have long been doing against Heaven, and I will work all my will through him, and neither God nor man will be able to resist this will of mine. I know and understand that I cannot be overcome. So I shall be victorious in all things.’

“And then that Son of Perdition will call a great crowd of people so they may see his glory made manifest when he tries to fly above the heavens, thinking that if anything of the Catholic faith were to remain intact, it would be completely destroyed by his ascension. But when he orders the superior Elements to sustain him in going to the heavens, in the hearing of the people standing around the words of My faithful Paul will be fulfilled, who, filled with the spirit of truth, says: ‘And then that wicked one shall be revealed whom the Lord Jesus shall kill with the spirit of his mouth’ (2 Thes. 2:8).

“The meaning of which is as follows: At that time the Son of Iniquity will be stripped bare and he will appear as false to all people, when he dares to presume to ascend to Heaven, since the Son of God, who condemns and saves the people, will kill him in this presumption, and He will do it with the strength, by which He, being the Word of the Father, will judge the whole world with a just judgment.

“For when that Son of Perdition rises above himself by devilish arts, he will be cast down by divine strength
