Saw and file the splashers to a smooth shape, and separate.
Bend and tack solder a length of 4mm brass strip.
Form the strip to the curved shape of the splasher face.
Tack solder another piece of strip to the flat top surface of the splasher.
Bend the strip round the 90-degree corner.
Hide the middle joint with a fillet of solder and file smooth.
ATTACHING THE SPLASHERS
To attach the splashers, proceed as follows:
•
Line up a front splasher with the edges of the footplate cut-outs and scribed lines on the footplate top surface. Hold it steady using a piece of wood to shield your fingers (or hold it in place with Blu-tak), ensuring that it is parallel and square. Tack it from inside with 145°C solder near the centre of the face. Check again.
