I blinked up at Vasili, turned on by his close attention and unabashed directness in front of Cade and Niko. They all hadn’t exactly culled their thoughts and speech while we were in a group, but they usually kept on the respectful side of flirtation—except during feeding when the intake of blood amped up their emotions and urges, leading to hot and heavy licking and involuntary dry-humping that all of us accepted and enjoyed.

Maybe he was finished waiting for me to step beyond that.

Maybe this was him pushing me for more.

His eyes stayed on my lips, focused intently while he licked his own. It was beyond sexy. Honestly, it was a little maddening. It tempted me to lick his finger, to suck it into my mouth, and give a sharp bite. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the best time to act on my desires yet. I had to leave in a few minutes, and they were heading to bed. But damn if I didn’t want to do what he suggested instead—sleep with him and also not sleep with him.

“Why, Vas, are you saying you want to snuggle with me?” I teased, watching as something flickered in his eyes before they snapped up to meet mine.

His hand splayed wide over my cheek and pushed through my hair to cradle the back of my head. “Savina, I want to do much more than that.” He blinked a few rapid times, seeming again to snap from his own deep thoughts. After a quick inhale, he released my face, backed up a step, and helped me to my feet. He was still close, close enough that my nose brushed against his upper chest as I stood. I breathed in his dark and stormy rain scent, not bothering to be subtle. I thought of being this close to him in bed, watching him as he slept. The picture was comforting and enticing.

And I knew I wouldn’t be the only one who would find that appealing.

What if others wanted that, wanted a safe way for vampires and trusted companions to interact, whether long term or before meeting in person? Sleeping together was another idea for pitching the companion cam site. I still hadn’t told the guys my idea, hadn’t asked if it would be possible.

“There it is again, chaton. This same little smile,” he said, lifting his fingers to my lips one more time before trailing one up to my forehead in a space between my eyebrows. “But this time there’s this little furrow here, too. I’ve seen it a few times this weekend. Something more is on your mind. What?”

“I was thinking of watching you sleep this time,” I admitted, seeing his eyes widen just a bit before narrowing with his own thoughts. He pressed his finger against my forehead again before letting his hand fall down to my shoulder. It was a question he didn’t have to ask.

“Yes, there’s more to it. I’ve been thinking about Purgatory and about companions. I had an idea last week and wasn’t sure about bringing it up to you all.
