Antimony is found with sulphides such as galena, pyrite and sphalerite and with silver and arsenic in hydrothermal mineral veins. The main use of antimony is as an alloy with other metals for bearings, cable protection and batteries. It can also act as a fire retardant in plastics. China is the main source of antimony, with Russia, Bolivia and South Africa producing lesser amounts.
