FOOD-PRODUCTION WASTE
Used vegetable oil can be filtered, chemically treated, and turned into biodiesel relatively easily.
BIODIESEL
Biodiesel will work in just about any conventional diesel engine. At a relatively low start-up cost, you can obtain a store-bought, domestic-sized biodiesel production plant. If you live in a city, you may be able to take old vegetable oil away from restaurants and fast-food outlets and quickly make it into a usable fuel. Note that we do not advocate making engine fuel from food products such as corn, sugar cane, or sugar beet in a world where there are food shortages.
