“Got something to teU you,” said Ned, pulling his notebook from the pocket of his jacket. Nêd and Rocky were sitting on the step where the two men had sat. The house was now empty and the street totally deserted.

Nedtold Rocky everything he knew about Laana.

Rocky whistled through his teeth in admiration. “Jee-pers!” He slapped Ned on the arm. “You've got the whole doggone deal on this dude!”

Ned stared at his notes. “Now what do we do?”

“It'd make a good TV soap,” said Rocky. “I could be me. You could be you.”

‘Yeah, that's what it sounds like. like we made it up. Evidence? NothinV

“We could show them the bear.”

“Yeah, I keep thinking about the bear. And the cubs.”

“Wonder what animals they're ripping out now.”

“I'm going to hunt htm,” said Ned.

“How?’ said Rocky.

Ned shrugged.

They headed back. Just before Rocky disappeared into the woods toward First Stream, Ned stopped.

“Hey, Rocky!” he yelled. “Remotely! That's how I'll hunt him!”
