Whether you’re single or married, I know your sex life may not have been absolutely pure. Mine hasn’t either, as I’ve already fessed up to you. I’m not here to come down on you, because the Holy Spirit and your own conscience can convict you better than I ever could. Instead, I want to share a Bible verse: “Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God” (Romans 6:13).

Do me a favor and read that verse again.

What that verse is talking about is surrender. Your Creator gave your body to you; give it back to Him. Male or female, married or unmarried, old or young, same-sex-attracted or opposite-sex-attracted, longtime Christian or just getting to know this Jesus thing…surrender your sexuality to God.

The world’s idea about sex—do whatever seems fun for you as long as it doesn’t hurt anybody else and you can get away with it—is so common that it seems like it must be right. Sorry, it’s a counterfeit. But if you’re always buying knockoff Nikes, you get so accustomed to the cheap leather and the soles that fall out that when you see the real thing, it doesn’t look right.

All I’m asking is, make the effort to start looking at sex God’s way instead of society’s way. It’s not about what others think. It’s not even about what you think. Get yourself to the point where you can surrender your sexuality to God. Because if you trust Him, He’ll show you the truth about sex and help you “use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.” And that’s a beautiful thing.
