Chapter Fourteen

The rest of the weekend went by without any more drama from Tabitha. I’m not letting my guard down just yet, though. My gut is telling me this is far from over. And I’m not sure what she’ll do when she realizes I have a family now.

I asked my papà to call church, just council members first. I want to make sure they know about Maeve and Saoirse. And I need to ask one of them to be her guard. This is a normal part of our club life. My sisters bodyguards–Amante and Ombra, are enforcers for the club. Azrael–our road captain, is my mam’s bodyguard. Amante grew up with all of us kids and he was someone my parents knew would always take care of Luciana. After this meeting, I want to have the prospects in so we can discuss the security issue at Luminescence.

Since my sister was kidnapped, my papà has added to our council. We went from having ten council members to thirteen, with fourteen prospects as of right now. With our growing family, we wanted to have enough in the inner MC to be able to protect not only the council women, but the children and club members.

My papà hits his gavel on the table.

“Bestia has requested this meeting to discuss a few issues we thought were taken care of, but apparently not. Bestia, the table is yours.”

“Thank you, Forza. As you all know, my woman, Maeve and our daughter, Saoirse, are now living with me here in Chicago.” The room gets loud with hoots and cheers.

“Exactly, it’s the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. But now I have a problem. That woman, Tabitha Cross. Some of you will remember her from last year when she was stalking me, and I ended up having to get a restraining order. Well she’s back, and if it was just me, I could handle it. But it now involves Maeve and Saoirse. So anyone at the gates needs to make sure she’s never allowed through. I’m asking for one of you to be Maeve’s bodyguard. And I need someone to be with Saoirse when she’s in school. I don’t need you to live with us like Amante and Ombra do with Fuoco and Dolce. But I do want you in one of the houses close to us on the property.”

Everyone at the table starts to talk to each other.

“I know I’m asking a lot because she’s not my wife yet. But know that she will be.”

“I’ll be Maeve’s bodyguard.” The voice that volunteers is Romano ‘Fantasma’ Vietti. He’s been with our club for about six months now, since he transferred from our charter club, Silenziatori MC, in Rome, Italy.

I nod at him. “Grazie, I appreciate this.”

“I already live close to you so I will not have to move,” he says in his thick Italian accent. “Will I be protecting the little one too?”

“I’ll take care of the princess.” We all turn and look at Granchio.
