Students talk, draw, or write about what they read to ensure they are reading for meaning rather than only accuracy.

Students are aware of the progress they are making and their goals for intervention time.

This supports a sense of agency and directs students’ focus during sessions.

Visibly tracking progress builds self-efficacy and motivation to continue.

Students can move at their own pace, but still make progress.

The whole point of an intervention is individualized, targeted instruction. If funding and scheduling require interventions to be delivered in small groups, rather than one to one, students should still be able to move at their own pace, skipping aspects of the program that don’t apply to their particular set of strengths and challenges.
