I slept terribly last night. Between the tossing and turning and the nightmares of Lenora and Simon sinking their fangs into me when I drifted off, I didn’t get any actual rest.

I pry my eyes open shortly after six, the sky still dark outside the bedroom window. I roll over and reach for my phone, squinting at the screen as I read the message from Tessa.

Can't wait to see you! Have a safe flight.

I sit up, leaning against the headboard and send a quick reply.

Slight change of plans. The guys are coming with me. Gabriel is meeting with your headmaster about the vampire/hunter treaty, so we’re flying together and renting a car when we land.

Her response comes a couple minutes later.

Okay. I’ll just see you when you get here then?

They won’t disrupt our visit, I promise! Looking forward to getting a taste of your world and hearing more about your suitors. 😉 See you soon!

There’s a soft knock at the door before Gabriel sticks his head inside. “Morning, angel. We need to leave soon.”

I set my phone on the bedside table and push the blankets off, swinging my feet over the side. “So you guys got on the flight?”

He approaches me with a steaming cup of coffee and holds it out to me. “It was fully booked. I put us all on a different one an hour later.”

“Oh. Okay.” I take the mug from him. “Thanks.”

Gabriel nods, scanning my face. “You doing okay?” he asks in a soft voice laced with concern.

I take a sip of the coffee, shrugging. “Sure. Just tired. Worried about everything the rest of you are.”

Understanding fills his expression and he steps closer, reaching for me and brushing his knuckles across my cheek before he bends and kisses my head. “We’ll be in the living room when you’re ready.”

I nod, gulping down another mouthful of coffee, praying it’ll pour some life into my veins. “I’ll be down in a few.”

After Gabriel leaves, I get up and shuffle into the bathroom to get ready, grabbing a comfy pair of navy sweatpants and a plain black hoodie to wear on the plane.

I haul my suitcase downstairs and leave it at the front door with the others, walking into the living room to find the guys waiting for me.

“All set?” Gabriel asks from the chair next to the unlit fireplace.

I nod. “Let’s do this.”
