Blocks with Lattice Work
Lattice or Sashing
Lattice or sashing around each block serves two purposes; one, to frame or show off each block (this is especially effective in setting off sampler blocks where each block is different and competing for attention) and two, to increase the quilt size.
Lattice strips should be no wider than ΒΌ the width of the block they are framing. However, a strip that is too narrow will also take away from the overall design of the quilt.
Sew the strips to the blocks as follows:
1. Cut short strips to set between the blocks. These should be the same length as the block.
2. Sew the strips between the blocks to form rows.
