Chapter 14

“DUFF?” GARRETT called through the bathroom door. “Are you okay in there?” There were muffled sounds, a grunt, and a bang followed by a curse. Garrett tried the door but found it locked. “Sweetie, if you need help, you have to let me in.”

“I’m okay. Um, Garrett?” “Yeah?”

“Are you shaving for this?” “Just my legs, face and pits, hon.

I draw the line at a razor blade on my balls. Ingrown hairs, blech.” He shuddered. “How far along are you?”

To his surprise, the door swung open so fast, he nearly fell into the bathroom, catching his shoulder on the doorframe. Duff stood there in a bathrobe with his hair held off his face with an elastic band, his face shiny from the exfoliating scrub Garrett had given him. His face was smooth but for the furrow in his brow from scowling. Garrett reached out and thumped the spot with a forefinger. Duff spluttered and rubbed his head.

“Hey!”

“No frowning. I knew we should have booked a botox appointment for this.”

Duff stared at him incredulously. “Are you fucking kidding me?”

Garrett shrugged. “Never mind. What are you having trouble with?”

The bathroom sink was strewn with so many different tubes and vials, it looked like a makeup counter had exploded.

“Tucking,” Duff growled. He gestured to the sink. “I understand all this stuff. It’s just like makeup for the stage. But I have to make it look like I don’t have junk. How in the blue fuck?”

Garrett, already dressed in a gray pencil skirt and shimmery red button-up blouse, smiled. “It’s not as bad as you think. Okay, do you have your old underwear and tube sock?” Duff held them in each hand and waved them around like white flags. Garrett laughed. “Okay. Scissors?” Duff wordlessly pointed. Garrett picked them up, snicking them closed a couple times. Duff’s eyes widened, and he sat on the toilet, crossing his legs like he was afraid Garrett was about to perform impromptu surgery on him, not on old clothes. “Watch and learn.”

Explaining each step to calm Duff down, he cut off the elastic waistband of the briefs, keeping the band intact. Then he cut the ankle portion of the tube sock off, discarding the parts he no longer needed. Holding the leg of the sock open, he threaded the waistband through it, stopping halfway. He held it up, his fingers holding it apart for Duff to see.

“Looks like the infinity symbol now, and your legs go in the loops. The sock leg holds your dick and balls up and smooths your pelvic bone so you look flat, no bulge. Voila, almost a vag.” He knelt in front of Duff and held the makeshift garment open so Duff could slip his feet through. “You want me to help or just talk you through the rest?”

Duff eyed him with a weary sigh. “Why are we doing this again?”

“It’s Halloween, and our costumes are going to make jaws drop. We’ve been crowing for more than a week how we’re going to kick everyone’s ass in originality.
