Writing

Writing partnerships are a powerful structure for children to use collaboration strategies they have learned through play. Writing partners can support each other in a number of ways. Partners might:

listen to each other, and offer compliments and suggestions.

ask for help with a particular strategy they are trying.

read each other’s writing, and mark up places that need editing (e.g., circle misspelled sight words and missing punctuation).

rehearse their writing together.

decide to coauthor a book.
