Chapter 8

Since Jasmine passed the seminar and was able to use and sell the new product in the shop, business was boomin’. It’s been a few weeks now and the clients was loving it. They were also loving the specials that Jasmine advertised to promote it. Niggas loved discounts, but claimed they supported black businesses. Jasmine hated this part of the hustle, but she dealt with it regardless. She was thinking about adding a masseuse and a nail tech to the business to bring in more revenue, but she’s been so busy and tired lately that she couldn’t fathom expanding the staff right now.

“Jaz, you want something from Smitty’s?” Candace yelled as she perused the fast food menu in her hand.

“You know she do. Her greedy ass ain’t eat nothing all day.” Tosh joked as she led her client to her chair.

“First of all, I’m focused on this schmoney. Plus, I haven’t been having much of an appetite lately.” Jasmine responded with a slight attitude. She had a headache for the past two days and she wasn’t for the shit today.

“Lemme find out Jasmine tryna get a little slim to get in that wedding dress!” Candace teased from the desk. She was getting something from Smitty’s regardless. Jasmine could front if she wanted to.

“Wedding dress?! Jasmine ain’t said shit about a wedding since she got engaged.” Tosh laughed. She was right though. Jasmine really didn’t have nothing to say about it though. She didn’t know what was up with her and Carlos, so with the tension it definitely wasn’t a good time to bring up wedding plans.

“Would yall bitches just shut up? Dayum!” Jasmine half joked. She really didn’t know what to say, but she wanted the heat off of her. She had other things to worry about, like how she was gonna sneak out to see Jamil before she went home tonight.

Jasmine tried her best to leave Jamil alone, but he couldn’t. She hated to admit it, but he was her baby. The sad thing was, she didn’t even try to talk herself out of it anymore. Carlos was spending more and more time at work and so was she. Even though Jasmine was tired and busy, she still made a way to get her “Jamil fix”. Even if they just went to see a movie, that was good enough for them. Tonight they had a “Wine & Cheese” night planned at his crib. They often got bored with the same old date ideas, so they started being more creative with their stolen time. They both joked at how two grown people with a child together had to sneak around. For two people who didn’t give a fuck about what people thought, they damn sure kept this affair a secret. They had dealt with a lot of drama as a unit, but they wanted to enjoy this fling without it. Jasmine didn’t even tell Neya. She wanted to, but honestly, Neya was still trying to cope with the death of her mother.
