Is it Working?

When it comes to technology in the classroom, begin with the end in mind. With your educational objectives in hand, how will you measure efficacy? What does successful use of the technology product look like? How will you know that the educational aims have been met? Will you receive reports from the technology provider that demonstrate student progress? Will there be activities outside of the technology that you’ll want students to complete in order to demonstrate their grasp of the material, or is progress within the product sufficient to demonstrate what the students have learned?

Consider how you’ll know if the product is working as intended, and whether measuring efficacy is sufficiently convenient for you. If you’ll need to pull reports from a product, perhaps request reports from the technology provider, log into the product and review each student’s progress or assess whether the educational goals have been met through some other means, do you have the bandwidth to do that?
