After watching Melanie for two weeks straight on New Year’s at twelve o’clock on the dot, I find myself sitting outside of her house inside of Brandy’s rental car. I take a couple more puffs of my Newport before putting it out.

“You ready?” Brandy asks me.

“You know it.” I say, while grabbing the steel bat from the back seat.

“Let’s get this over with then.” She replies as she grabs the other one.

Getting out the car, we walk up Melanie’s driveway. Fumbling with her front door, it doesn’t take long before we got inside her house. Walking up the stairs, we start hearing moaning from the back room. Slowly opening the door, we know there is no turning back.

“Surprise, surprise, Melanie. How you been, girl?” I ask, walking in on her and Officer Warren. The low life bitch is fucking her nigga’s dad.

“Look, I have nothing to do with this. I’ve done my part, so hurry up and get this over with.” He says before leaving the room and closing the door behind him.

“Please, don’t, Promise. I’m pregnant.” She begins to cry.

“Come back and get your revenge after I have my baby.” She says, standing up.

“Sorry, but there’s no rules and exceptions to this game, Melanie.” I swing the bat dead into her stomach.

She yells out in pain as I continue to swing, hoping it is Aaron’s child that I am killing. In two minutes flat, Brandy and I exit the house and drive home as if nothing happened.

“Happy New Year bitch.” Brandy screams as she enters her rental car.

“Same to you bitch.” I say loudly as she turns the radio up.

“So, are you with that new year, new beginning shit I was telling you about?” She asks me.

“Yup. I’m going to call Mike once I get home.” I reply as she starts up the car and drives away.
