Now, take some words out of the sentence (verbally). Say aloud, for example, “Tigers have on bodies.” Ask the child to tell you what words are missing. In this example, the words that are missing in that sentence are “stripes” and “their.”

Here are some other sentences from which you can verbally remove words:

Firemen put out fires with big hoses of water.

Polar bears live in the Arctic.

I live in a brick house.

Apples come in different colors. Some are red, some are green, and some are yellow.
