Make poms in different sizes and color combinations. Neutrals with neons! Tone-on-tone hues! Poms can be attached singly or in tiny groups.

CAKE TOPPERS

What a blast! Glittery garland creates poms that look like sparklers.

supplies

jewelry wire

wire cutter

scissors

tinsel garland

hot-glue gun

bamboo skewers

1. Cut a 5-inch piece of jewelry wire.

2. Using the Finger Wrap method described on this page, wrap the garland around your fingers 2 to 3 times. (More wraps make poufier poms.)

3. Using the jewelry wire as your tying material, twist the wire around the center of the garland to cinch it.

4. Cut all the loops and trim the tinsel ends.

5. Dab hot glue on the bamboo skewer at least 0.25 inch from the end.

6. Gently press the center of the pom onto the skewer, making sure it reaches the midpoint of the pom and doesn’t fall off. Repeat steps 1–6 to make multiple toppers.

7. Cut the skewers at varying heights with a wire cutter and insert them into your cake.
