Around the room put up strips of black paper starting at floor height, as posts for the litter and recycling signs. Place the cleaning machine pictures in plastic wallets and tie them to make an A3 and A4 book. Put out any models of cleaning machines on a piece of carpet. Display the ‘Mr Clean Up’ paintings on a nearby board.

Explain to the children what a rainforest is. Show the children pictures. Tell them that the forest is made up of three to four layers and start to make a giant frieze of a rainforest in a corner area to be used for role-play. Over the week add models and pictures of animals and plants (see Knowledge and Understanding of the World and Creative Development.) (PS1, 7)

Talk about sensible clothes to wear in a rainforest. Paint pictures of rainforest outfits. (PS1, 9)
