“I Can” Statements

•I can determine which goods and services are needs and which are wants.

•I can analyze which goods and services to purchase.

•I can explore the impact, or opportunity cost, of my purchasing decisions.

•I can examine factors that make purchasing decisions more difficult for some people.

INCLUSIVE PRACTICES

These apply to all students and should not be differentiated. Regardless of the supports individual students receive, they are all working toward these goals and understandings.

Assessment Evidence

Assessment evidence will consist of performance tasks, self-assessments, and other evidence that the students are mastering the identified goals and understandings. The following evidence will be used for this lesson:

•Student lists goods and services that are necessary (needs) and goods and services that are not necessary but enjoyable (wants).

•Student plays role of consumer and decides how to spend his or her money.

•Student uses stoplight response cards to show level of understanding.

•Teacher observes students sharing examples during class discussion.

•Teacher observes students responding to teacher questions during demonstration.
