Some dogs like to swim. If you live near a lake, take your dog to play there. Don’t forget to make sure the lake is clean! Some forms of algae can be dangerous for dogs.

Just like humans, dogs need healthy food to eat. Your vet can help you choose which food is right for your dog. Also, make sure your dog always has clean, fresh water in their bowl. Change it daily!

Dogs also need grooming. How much grooming your dog needs depends on the type of dog she is. Some breeds only need baths and brushing, but others have hair that grows very long and needs to be trimmed, just like people’s hair does. Many people can give their dogs baths, but not everyone can groom their own dogs or trim their nails. You might need to bring your dog to a professional groomer to help her stay comfortable and look her best.

Don’t forget about toys! Many dogs like to chew, and it’s better for them to chew on a toy shoe than on your real shoe. Squeaky toys, stuffed animals, rope pulls, and balls can give your dog something to do and can also be a way for you to play with your dog. There are even puzzle toys, which are both fun and provide your dog with mental stimulation.
