As mentioned before, students do not come to school understanding the nuances of the academic environment. Teachers must explain to students classroom expectations, both academic and behavioral. Ethical work habits and appropriate behaviors must be modeled and recognized in the classroom. Students should be taught to monitor their own behavior and to resolve conflict without the intervention of an authority figure. In essence, students need to learn how to function in a productive work environment so they can continue to do so as adults.
