Of Exams and Tests

Next week were the mock exams. Libraries were in full swing, and the offices of teachers were nearly empty from being called to extra sessions or one-on-one tutoring by many students.

Prestige and wealth brought with it responsibilities, and except for a few exceptions, no one could doubt that the students who studied here got into Kuzusaki High school on the basis of their own abilities.

As for me, well… I appeared to have a sudden rise in popularity.

“Luca-kun, why don’t we study for calculus together?” Aria-san asked me, sitting next to me in the library. Her hand was on my shoulder as she whispered into my ear.

“But I don’t need any help in calculus.”

“That’s mean, Luca-kun. I need help in calculus. I can help you in English, since I’ve scored 100s in my class tests on that. Your scores linger around 93-95 in that.”

“…Aren’t student scores personal information?” I tried not to smack the book I was reviewing into my face. “Are you abusing your position as class rep?”

“Ahahaha,” she laughed nervously, tugging at a strand of her pink hair. “Tehe?” She bonked her head with her own fist, sticking out her tongue in a cutesy effort. Too bad that only worked in anime, and she ended up looking like a weirdo.

‘Tehe my foot.’

“Fine,” I said. “We can help each other out.”

“Really? Then let’s study together this afternoon.” Aria smiled. For a moment, I faltered at how perfectly her lips curved, highlighting her prominent cheek bones.

Maybe beautiful women should belong in a class of their own as well, like angels and demons
