A structure determination of bis(η-allyl)nickel by means of neutron diffraction (Krüger, 1985) revealed considerable deviations of the C–H bonds from the C3 plane; this justifies the designations syn and anti for the H positions relative to central Ni (p. 438).

Structure of [C4H7-PdCl]2. The Pd and Cl atoms lie in one plane, which intersects the plane of the three allyl carbon atoms at an angle of 111.5°.

Structure of binuclear complex (C3H5)4Mo2. Two allyl groups function as bridging ligands. The complex is fluxional in solution, that is, the bridging and terminal allyl groups undergo ligand scrambling (Cotton, 1971). d(Mo–Mo) = 218 pm.
