STEP 10

Cut the 1/4-inch (6 mm) drip emitter line to fit the length of the garden bed and put a “goof plug” at the end to prevent water from running out the end.

STEP 11

Repeat steps 6 through 11 every 6 inches (15 cm) along the 1/2-inch (1 cm) supply line so that the garden bed gets adequate water coverage.

How Often to Water with Drip Irrigation

When you first install drip irrigation in your garden, it will be a trial-and-error process to determine how long and how often to water. The amount of time to run your system and the number of days between watering (frequency) will depend on how far apart your drip emitters are spaced, how many gallons per hour (GPH) of water each emitter puts out, and what type of soil you have.
