What’s this I hear about patrols and grenades, etc. Boy, we were sure sorry to hear of the mishap…. I suppose you’re backin a rest camp now. Where did they get you? There must not have been a school solution to that situation.

They didn’t waste any time getting you in the scrap, did they? Well, I hope you won’t have to go back too soon, and I hope the injury wasn’t serious…. By the way, what do you plan to dowhen this war is over? Go back to school or what?…Don’t know if I told you in my last letter that I planted a Victory Garden. Anyway, it’s really growing. With Dad’s advice and my sweat, we’ll make a go of it. Course, there’s a reason for planting it. You see, I’m expecting a visit from you when you get back, and I plan to do a lot of canning. Course, I’m not tight or anything. But that way, I won’t have to charge you for the meals, and I won’t have to worry about my grocery bills quite so much, and that way, too, it will be a much more pleasant visit for both of us! Ha!
