Was there a way to get around the language barrier? I could try a tape recorder, but I wasn’t sure it would be able to pick up voices well enough to hear later. It was incredibly frustrating that I couldn’t just take Lourdes with me to translate.

As the M3 crawled past a taxidermy studio (“WE MOUNT DEAD ANIMALS!”), I stared at a poorly rendered montage of three squat hunters in camouflage, stalking a buck with an improbable set of antlers.

And that’s when I got an idea.

Sit A Spell was closed when I got there, but my mother was at the door waiting for me.
