Ashley stepped out of the truck one more time, her phone turned completely off. Patrick would call Margo if he needed them. So would Elizabeth Rey and Marshal Taylor.
All she had to do was wait until the PD had accurate call logs as well as the cell tower location information that would help pinpoint the stalkerâs location when the call was made. She hoped getting a subpoena was easy in Indiana.
It took everything in her not to turn the phone back on and answer. It would all be over soon after that.
Instead she followed Margo into Lambright Woodworkingâs front room, filled with cool air and the scent of wood shavings and flowers. A leather couch faced a stonework fireplace with shelves of goods surrounding the entire space.
âGood morning. May I help you find anything?â A young Amish woman smiled at them from the counter.
âIâm looking for a wooden art easel. Do you have any?â Ashleyâs voice came out calm, like a customer with no care in the world but beautiful furniture. She could pretend easily here with so much beauty surrounding her. Old-fashioned nightlights. Soaps. In the other room in front of her, a huge wooden and iron bed and gorgeous cabinetry displays. When she came back to visit with Patrick, theyâd have to look into updating their kitchen.
âI believe we do. Iâll show you where.â She led them to a large open room full of dining room tables, chairs, and dressers of the finest quality. At least by the high standards of Jonathanâs work.
âLook at this.â Margo held up a simple burgundy candle and an elegant wrought iron holder.
âVery nice. I can see that in your dining room, Maggie.â
âI need to talk to the owner about shipping.â Margo was off to another display area. âI could use these simple wooden kitchen tools and those candles for a number of interior redesigns on my calendar. Homeowners would scoop them up in a flash.â
âMy father will be done with his tour soon.â Their Amish host smiled and stopped walking. âIâm sure heâd be happy to speak with you.â
âExcellent.â Margo clapped her hands and then sobered. âSorry. Not the right time to be effervescing about work.â
Ashley shrugged. âItâs fine. I understand. Kid in a candy store and all that.â
âOver here are our handcrafted bowls and some wooden toys.â She pointed to a nook overlooking a long glassed-in work area.
âFarther down, just through that door, are some unique tables for entertaining and if you head back with me to the main room, you can see a handcrafted king-size bed with a headboard of carved baseball bats. My father crafted it for a major league baseball player.â
Ashley followed. The dark wooden bats gleamed between wrought iron posts. Patrick would love that.
âDo you ship large furniture to places like Atlanta?â Ashley tried hard to catch the decorating bug, not terribly difficult to do when shopping with Margo.
âYes. We ship all over the country.â
Margo disappeared around a huge cherry wood buffet.
Ashley turned to the Amish woman. âThanks for showing us around.
