STEP 1: Choose an image you want to draw and paint. Tape it to a page in your sketchbook with washi tape.

STEP 2: Sketch or draw the image on the page.

STEP 3: Begin with the lightest color and add it to the sketch. Include a swatch of the color along the bottom of the page to create a palette.

STEP 4: Continue with the next lightest color, gradually adding darker colors to your image and palette.
