At some point, I got curious and looked that woman up. Her Twitter bio says, love animals, art, traveling, DIY, crafts…spending time with family & friends. Sounds nice.

Here’s the one with the daughter:

I told her I felt sorry for her.

Another thing I thought was ridiculous was how so many of those people who attacked us would say we were just kids so we shouldn’t talk because we didn’t understand the issues. Literally, on the day it all happened, that morning when everybody was giving each other flowers and hugging each other, I had Debate class second period, and we were learning about the NRA. Our teacher was telling us how they’re the most powerful lobbying group in Washington so everybody’s afraid to take them on, then we talked about how democracy works and gun control and all of that, and it was just a few hours before.

But the Melania Trump tweet is when I feel like I really joined the movement. I already knew about it from seeing things on the news and hearing David, but I didn’t know what they were actually doing. All that time David was over at Cameron’s, I mostly thought he was out doing more interviews. But one night, I’m not sure exactly when, I went to bed too early again because I was just bawling my eyes out and I got so exhausted, and I woke up all of a sudden and thought, “What am I doing? I can’t go back in the past. I’m going to miss my friends, but crying isn’t doing anything.” So I went to my brother’s room and told him, “I need to do something.”

That was when he told me what was going on. It’s actually kind of funny because the first time I met them all in one place happened because I was really tired again and wanted to go home to take a nap, but David said he had a meeting at the school so could we drop him off. Then he said he wanted to introduce me to his friends and took me in with him.

I already knew most of the people. Sometimes I would see Emma when I went to Astronomy Club with David after school, and I knew Ryan Deitsch a little because I’m really good friends with his sister, Sam. But just being in that room, the energy between them and the love, it was something I’ve never felt in my life. They were like a family. Not like when you say, “Oh, we’re like a family, we hang out all the time.” But really a family. There was just so much love in that room.

So of course, I had to join, too. And now, looking back, I realize it was the best thing I could have done.
