Shoes

1 Enlarge the three pattern pieces for the shoe by 140% and cut them out. Pin the pattern pieces to the felt and cut out, leaving an 8mm (3⁄8in) seam allowance, except for the strap and the opening, which are cut level with the edge.

2 Topstitch the opening, then close up the upper of the shoe with a seam. Open out the seam, tack on the sole lining up the middle of the sole with the middle of the upper, then stitch by machine. Trim the felt to 3mm (1⁄8in) from the seam and turn out the shoe.

3 Topstitch around the strap, and sew it to the inside of the shoe, 21⁄2cm (1in) from the back seam. Sew a piece of brown hook and loop fastening to the end of the strap, on the inside, and attach a decorative wooden button on top. Sew the other part of the fastening to the shoe, also 21⁄2cm (1in) from the seam.

4 Make the second shoe in the same way, reversing the position of the strap and fastening.
