Materials for the koala

Yarn 40% combed wool, 40% acrylic and 20% mohair for crochet hook 4mm: 2 skeins grey (yarn A)

Yarn 100% acrylic for crochet hook 3.5mm: 1 skein black (yarn B)

2 solid eyes with shank backs, black, size 10mm (3⁄8in)

Scissors

Wool needle

Head, legs, torso and arms

With yarn A, work as indicated on page 64.

Nose

With yarn B, make 3 ch.

Work in a spiral.

Round 1 1 dc into 2nd ch from hook, 2 dc into last ch; on other side of foundation chain, 2 dc into next ch, 2 dc into first ch = 6 dc

Round 2 *1 dc into next dc, 2 dc into each of foll 2 dc*, rep once from * to * = 10 dc

Round 3 1 dc into each of next 2 dc, 2 dc into each of foll 2 dc, 1 dc into each of next 3 dc, 2 dc into each of foll 2 dc, 1 dc into last dc = 14 dc

Round 4 1 dc into each of next 3 dc, 2 dc into each of foll 2 dc, 1 dc into each of next 5 dc, 2 dc into each of foll 2 dc, 1 dc into each of last 2 dc = 18 dc

Round 5 1 dc into each of next 4 dc, 2 dc into each of foll 2 dc, 1 dc into each of next 7 dc, 2 dc into each of foll 2 dc, 1 dc into each of last 3 dc = 22 dc

Round 6 1 dc into each dc to end

Work 1 ss into next dc to finish.

Fasten off.
