The moderator sounded excited. “That’s…” He shuffled through the papers in his hands, like he was looking at the wrong one. His voice deepened. “That’s incorrect.”

The cheering stopped. The room fell silent. Except for a cricket. A cricket chirped somewhere in the gym and wouldn’t stop. I waved the camera away and put my hands over my face.

“I knew you were a fraud,” Jennifer spat at me. “You’re going to pay for this.”

The moderator leaned over and whispered, “Sorry, kid.” Then he stood up straight and talked to the camera. “And now for the nail-biting climax. Saint Gertrude’s, what is your answer?”

The kid at the end of the table stood again. He was shorter than I thought he was. And he was cute like Amanda said. “The hour hand goes around the clock two times every twenty-four hours. The minute hand goes around twenty-four times. And the second hand goes around 1440 times.” He smiled big and pointed at Jennifer. “The correct answer is 1466. Boo-yeah!”
