SEM programs will also produce tables of direct, indirect, and total effects for both the standardized and unstandardized solution. The tables for the current example are shown in Figure 13.5. The tables are read from column to row; thus the total unstandardized effect of Family Background (BYSES) on GPA (ffugrad), as shown in the bottom left of the first table, is .544. Take some time to compare these results with those from the previous chapter.
