Chapter 4
We were in the last class of the day when a sharp bottle broke the glass window.
âWAR!â Someone screamed. Someone was always screaming. I didnât know if the screamers at such times were also part of the cult groups or mere messengers.
The lecturer jumped out of the class, leaving the entire room in disarray.
A gang war in the afternoon! everyone wondered as we ran helter-skelter. It had usually been after lecture hours; for the war to be happening right at that moment meant the boys were out for blood. We ran in all directions.
In the direction I ran, I saw members of The Massacars approaching from the dorm, their emblem shining above their heads on fancy headbands, but I didnât have the luxury of time to see if any of the faces were familiar. What I searched for desperately was the one face I hoped wasnât there â Sunâs.
Sun had neither called me nor made any attempt to see me in the week before that day. I imagined that he was caught up in some serious business. People at his level couldnât avoid problems. He was only gifted with a handsome face to conceal his.
I turned around and found myself in the physics lab. The lecture going on in there was oblivious to an ongoing WAR. At first, when I heard the tentative movement of bodies hitting the teachersâ table, I had thought that some students were trying to hide there. When my footstep became more audible, two figures emerged clumsily from hiding.
Miss Bridget was doing up her bra and Mr. Anthony was buckling his belt. A repentant look creased their faces.
âSorry, maâam. There is a WAR.â
âA WAR?â The man was smarter. He quickly rushed towards me and pulled a big table across the door. He twisted the keys to ensure that the door was locked.
âWhatâs a WAR?â Miss Bridget inquired. Sweat still poured from her face. It must have been a very good session with her partner. She had only been in Bevy High for a few months; obviously, she wasnât aware of what went on.
âStupid gang wars.â Mr. Anthony said as he winced. âThey rarely fight at this time of day unless they want to draw blood.â
âReally?â Miss. Bridget looked at me. She was trying to see if I would report her and get her summoned to the Principalâs office.
I shook my head slightly, and she got the message. She strolled over to me and patted my back. âThank you.â
I imagined what her hands had been doing. I imagined them moving up and down Mr. Anthonyâs hungry penis. I frowned bitterly and shook the thoughts out of my head.
I will give my top a thorough laundry run when I got home.
Several minutes later, the loud sounds of gunshots and bottles crashed into the corridor and onto the door of the laboratory. The noises were really disturbing.
Miss Bridget could only find solace in embracing her boyfriend. They looked cute together, and the mere thought of their session inspired emotions within me.
