STEP 1:

MAKE THE ACCORDION

1. Cut paper for the accordion that measures 2½" × 12" (6.4 cm × 30.5 cm), grain short.

2. Fold the paper into an eight-page accordion. Each page will measure 2½" × 1½" (6.4 cm × 3.8 cm). (See “How to Fold an Accordion,” page 24.)

STEP 2:

CUT THE SHAPED ACCORDION

1. Cut paper for a template that measures 2½" × 1½" (6.4 cm × 3.8 cm).

2. Design and cut out the shape of the template paper. To create a symmetrical pattern, fold the template in half and draw half of the image. Be sure to leave paper at both mountain and valley folds so the accordion stays connected.

3. Place the template on the first page of the accordion, and trace around it with a pencil.
