Chapter Four

Terrence gently squeezed Diana’s hand. She shook but not out of fear. Nervousness swirled around her. “It’ll be okay.”

She nodded. “I hope so.”

Suddenly, the door to Sawyer and Olivia’s home opened. Both of Diana’s sisters greeted them with wide smiles. Audrey reached out, grabbed Diana’s hand and tugged her inside. “The most amazing thing happened.”

Terrence met Sawyer’s gaze with a raised brow. Sawyer indicated to one of the armchairs in the living room. Following his gaze, Terrence stilled and stared at the woman sitting quietly as if waiting for Diana. “Who is that?”

“It’s their grandmother.”

“What?”

Sawyer chuckled and closed the door. “The females will explain.”

Watching Diana, Terrence had to force himself to stay put while she stopped in front of her grandmother. She covered her mouth with her hand and her eyes shown with unshed tears. “It worked?”

Grams stood and held out her arms. All three females went to her, wrapping around each other in a group hug. Terrence’s chest tightened.

Diana sniffed and asked, “How?”

Grams broke from the hug. “My curse was to age faster and have everyone think I was a crazy old witch. When you found your mate and bound your soul to his, the family’s curses were all broken. You girls are free to have children without the fear of them becoming afflicted.”

Terrence went to Diana and hugged her tightly. His heart belonged to her, and he’d have it no other way. “I’m really happy for you, but I’m not sure I want kids right now,” he whispered in her ear.

She laughed and twisted to face him. “Me either. I want to get to know you and get all of these newly-mated hormones taken care of first.”

“Sounds like a plan.” He watched how her lavender eyes darkened slightly. He kissed her quickly on the lips. “I’m falling in love with you, even after one night. I know it will only grow and strengthen over the years.”

She framed his face, a wide smile on her face. “I’ve known since the first time I saw you that I could love you.”

“Let’s sneak over to my place for a quickie.”

She pressed her lips together as if holding in a laugh. Her amusement flowed through the mating bond. “A quickie? I think not. My family will understand if we don’t come back tonight.”

“Then say your goodnights and let’s get out of here before I drag you out.”

A laugh bubbled out and she slapped at his chest. “Such the animal.” She turned to her sisters, who tried not to look like they were listening, then looked back at Terrence. “Take me to my new home.”

“Yes, ma’am.” He scooped her into his arms and carried her to his, no their house where they would spend many decades together.
