In other words, is there a human a right to select one’s mindbody state (with restrictions to harming others, and so on)? Don’t freedom of the press, religion, assembly, speech, and similar rights derive from this more fundamental assumption of personal mental freedom? Considering drug laws and these freedoms, there is enough fodder here to feed a generation of jurisprudence scholars.

Philosophy of Language

Our language is constructed from singlestate experience and for use within that mindbody state. It is no surprise that other mindbody states are called “ineffable.” One of the problems of talking about, say, mystical experiences, may be due to the small number of people who can share their experiences by talking about them. How, for example, could we communicate about the taste of salt to someone who has never tasted it? How can we communicate about other states to people who have never experienced them?
