4.2.2.2 Cross Product

Another way of multiplying two vectors is the cross product. There are some important differences between the inner product and the cross product. Whereas the inner product is defined in any space—two-, three- or higher dimensional—the cross product is only defined in 3D. And whereas the inner product results in a scalar (number), the cross product results in a vector that is perpendicular to the plane spanned by the two original vectors.
