TIPS
• Use fabric dye to color the beading foundation gray before stitching. This way the white of the foundation won’t show through if you happen to leave space between stitches.
• If your cabochons are shorter or taller than the ones used here, adjust the number of rounds worked in each bezel as needed to secure them to the foundation. If a cabochon ever feels loose, work one or two more inside rounds using size 15° seed beads.
• Any bead that’s flat on at least one side can be used in place of cabochons in bead-embroidered projects. Give these clever replacements a faux bezel by beading a border around them, as Sherry did with the flat rectangles in this design, instead of working a full bezel.
• See more embellishment and finishing ideas starting on page 139.
