We will need at least three coats of the flat white base coat. You will want to sand and wipe between coats, so wait about one-half hour between each coat. Using 600- to 800-grit paper will be sufficient. Make sure to let this base coat cure overnight.

Silver metallic is our color base coat. Fill about one-third of the cup with the silver. Fill the rest of the cup with acetone. Back flush (see page 73 for more instruction). Paint the upper two-thirds of the body (not the belly) with the silver mixture until you have an even coat of color.
