So, in this instance, I decide that I want one bloom to be pointing up and one to be curled down and around. I step back to get a better view of the wreath and realize I’d like to rearrange things. I think the arrangement of the pinks at the bottom and blues at the top can be adjusted to look more attractive, so I simply reposition them a bit, moving the blue hydrangeas side by side at the bottom.

I wish I could give you an exact, technical reason why I changed the flowers and colors around, but I can’t. Through practice, you will develop an eye for this yourself. It will come with time, as you begin to see your own style emerge.

I am going to experiment with a green hops spray next. I actually love this spray just as it is, all together in one large stem. One thing that always draws my attention to a stem like this is the way the flowers drape. Don’t get me wrong, I often use wired stems and purchase very few without wire, but this is one of those exceptions. This airy, wispy look can add so much to any natural, wild and woodsy design.
