Nancy Drew on Campus

Jason, to listen to the show and invite Radical Moves to perform at Club Z," Montana urged.

Eileen pursed her lips. "The point is, Montana, that I don't have a thing to do with what acts Jason Lehman books for the club. I'm dating Emmet, not his brother. I'm not that tight with Jason. Besides," Eileen said, "Radical Moves has to make its own decisions about the club. If they want a club date, let them set it up."

"That's what I told them. I also told Ray how unbelievably terrific he is."

Eileen laughed softly. "I'm sure you did."

Ginny frowned.

Montana laughed outright. "Well, that, too." She dropped her voice, and Ginny couldn't hear her for a second. Then Montana said in a more normal tone, "Would you believe the whole lot of them don't think they're ready yet? I mean, gimme a break. These guys are so terrific. They're just scared, that's what I think."

"Well, it's their call, Montana, not yours and not mine and not even Jason's. They have to do what feels right to them," Eileen pointed out.

Ginny agreed, but she wished Montana didn't feel so invested in Ray. Ginny wondered if Montana cared at all about Ray's music. To Ray, music was the whole world. Singing and playing guitar were his life.

Montana probably just had a crush on him because of his looks. Ray did have star quality.

But the Ray Ginny knew was more than a star.
