Mother dear –

We had a great meeting of the corps yesterday & everything most amicable.Things are being done on more businesslike & economical lines & I thinkthe result will be a vast improvement. At least I hope so.

Reste à vois! [Remains to be seen]

Charles I have just flipped. He has a mania now which is to sit in the coal box, it has two good points from his point of view: 1 it is near the stove & fuggy, 2 it makes nice patterns on my clothes afterwards.

Yesterday they shelled Furnes again but no damage.

In the afternoon elsewhere an obus burst 4 to 5 yds behind the car on the road as I pulled up. But beyond making a few holes in the back of Daniel did nothing – rather luck as it was on the pavé, the bits often travel – such is life – who cares.

I saw the dear old Admiral yesterday. The Marins have had very heavy losses these last 6 weeks. Fritz is very offensive with ammunition – I wish he could run out sometimes.
