Chapter 4: The Two Basic Stitches

The Knit Stitch

Now that you have casted on stitches, we are going to begin with the first basic stitch, the Knit Stitch. The Knit stitch is one of the two basic types of stitches in knitting.

(Right handed/Left handed)

Making sure that the working yarn is to the back, insert the working needle into the first stitch on the holding needle from RIGHT to LEFT/LEFT to RIGHT, from the bottom of the stitch. The working needle crosses behind the holding needle.
