Scale Passage Drills

The following exercises are an introduction to executing the major scale diatonically starting on each note of the scale. The fingerings for the scales use the first, second, and third classes of each scale as presented earlier in this book. Each new ascending or descending run of the scale starts with the finger number of that note in its fingering class. Use the example in C major for reference. This exercise is to be learned in all keys.
