THEY CAME THROUGH the double doors and Armitage turned to Steel. 'Take our little friend down to detention. Then you log off and go home. You don't have to do this. You don't have to be involved.'

Treasure paused thoughtfully for a moment.

'Yes I do,' she said at last. 'I've talked this through with Terry and she'd never forgive me if I crawled away and hid. If you don't go kicking and screaming then the drokkers win all the time.'

'I don't know how extreme this is going to get, Steel.'

'I know.'

'Okay. It's your decision. Meet up with us in the main hall - and don't forget to make that call we talked about on the way up.'

'Gotcha.' Steel gripped Shaba bel Beth in an armlock and hustled him off in the direction of the bouncetubes.

Armitage turned to Dredd and gestured towards the security station. 'Pick up your weapons. We've leaving.'

'What?' Dredd was clearly surprised.

'You've dropped us in it up to our necks, Dredd, and any second now the hammer's going to fall. If we get out now then we might just stand a chance of making it out alive.'
